MONKEY EDGE LOGO TITANIUM CONTAINERS

THE STORY OF THE DESIGN:

THE ORIGINAL MONKEY EDGE LOGO

I like designing, prototyping and refining a product much more than just
making parts so I was very excited when I secured permission from Brady
at Monkey Edge to develop my own unique version of his monkey logo for
my products. It was quite a challenge to come up with a logo that looked
good, retained the elements of the original artwork but brought my style
into the mix. It also had to be a design that used a constant line width so I
could cut it into the surface with a single ball end mill. The life of a face is
in the eyes and these were especially difficult but after many drawings I
finally came up with this:

This is an updated version with helmet added:

This drawing then needs to be refined and converted into dimensional coordinates
to tell the machine where to go when engraving so the next step was to import the
drawing into RasterVect and get some DXF lines as a starting point for the build:

THE BLUE LINES WILL BE SAVED AS A DXF FILE

I then opened that with CAD/CAM software and built each line and arc
of the face manually using the RasterVect version as a rough guide:

After this you dont know how it is really going to look until it is
cut into metal so I cut many
prototype faces, each time making
refinements and revisions until a final design was reached:

I am really happy to have my monkey containers
on Monkey Edge as a Monkey Edge exclusive
